Immigration to British Columbia

British Columbia is one of the most attractive places to live in Canada. Given the low birth rate, the entire population growth is contingent on immigrants. The government has developed a provincial immigration program that can speed up the immigration process for applicants who wish to settle in British Columbia and drive up their efforts and resources to its development.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program is one of the largest in Canada in terms of the number of subprograms and their streams.

BCPNP Skills Immigration (SI)

This immigration category is for qualified, skilled and semi-skilled workers with a demanded occupation in B.C. We can distinguish 5 main streams:

  • Skilled Worker
  • Health Care Professional
  • International Graduate
  • International Post-Graduate
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Workers

BCPNP Express Entry

This immigration stream is for qualified specialists registered with the Express Entry immigration selection system. There are four Skills immigration categories for BCPNP Express Entry:

  • Skilled Worker
  • Health Care Professional
  • International Graduate
  • International Post-Graduate

These two streams share similar categories except for the Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Workers which is included only to the SI category.

  • Skilled Workers – for those skilled workers with experience, obtained a legal Job Offer from a B.C. company.
  • Healthcare Professionals – for those, who get a Job Offer for one of 11 required health activities.
  • International Graduates – for those, who finished valid Canadian university or college. A Job Offer must be from a BC company, qualified for this sub-category.
  • International Post-Graduates – for those Masters and Doctors, who graduated from an eligible Canadian university. Don`t need a Job Offer.
  • Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Workers category – for semi-skilled job positions in food processing, tourism, for entry-level workers, who work and live at the territory of the Northeast Development Region of BC.

BCPNP Tech Pilot

BCPNP Tech Pilot – is a pilot program for technical specialists registered in SIRS and having received an invitation to work in a technical job position, which is on the list of demanded ones. The requirement of tech specialists is growing too fast in the province. There are 29 selected occupations eligible to participate in the pilot. Tech Pilot has the following four categories:

  • Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker
  • Skills Immigration – International Graduate
  • Express Entry British Columbia – Skilled Worker
  • Express Entry British Columbia – International Graduate.

BCPNP Entrepreneur Immigration

This stream is the way to immigrate to BC for experienced entrepreneurs, investors, businessmen, who plan to start their business in a province and make the local economy more powerful.

BCPNP Entrepreneur Stream main criteria are:

  • you should have a minimum of 600,000 CAD
  • you should have more than 3 years of successful practice as a business owner, or at least four years as a senior manager, or a combination of these positions.
  • you should have a certificate about post-secondary education
  • need to have a CLB level 4 or higher of English or French

Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot

Entrepreneur Immigration – Regional Pilot is aimed at entrepreneur immigrants who wish to start businesses in remote communities with a population of fewer than 75,000 people. At the moment, there are over 60 such communities.
