The Employment Minister Carla Qualtrough announced on April 11 that her department is working to help seasonal workers who currently are not eligible to apply for the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). According to Qualtrough, the government is looking for ways to help such workers. In the meantime, Ottawa has announced plans to help bring in temporary foreign workers involved in the agriculture sector as well as their employers. The government will allocate $50 million to fund the self-isolation of the temporary agriculture workers upon arriving in Canada. These funds make-up $1,500 paid to employers for each worker brought in.
