La dépendance croissante du Canada à l'égard des travailleurs migrants faiblement rémunérés remodèle le marché du travail

A recent Bank of Canada analysis reveals a significant transformation in the country’s workforce composition, with the share of native-born Canadians in the labour force declining by nearly 10 percentage points since 2006. The comprehensive report, released on May 9, 2025, highlights an unprecedented surge in immigration, particularly among temporary workers. The study indicates that recent immigrants tend to be younger, lower-skilled, and predominantly from regions such as India, sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East. Notably, temporary migrant workers now earn approximately 22.6% less than their Canadian-born counterparts, a wage gap that has more than doubled since 2015.
