The updated free trade agreement between the United States, Mexico, and Canada has been signed. The NAFTA replacement – USMCA, did not provide any serious changes in the immigration-related aspects. Skilled workers in more than 60 occupations will continue to be able to reside and work in Canada under the USMCA. The list of eligible occupations remains unchanged from the NAFTA list and there will be no quota on work permits or on a number of times foreign professionals and businesspersons to renew their status in Canada.
